Beneath the mobile market darlings of Samsung, LG and HTC, many Asia-based vendors are eagerly vying for a slice of the pie. Elephone is among the emerging Chinese manufacturers, which aims to make a name for itself by offering affordable, yet well-equipped smartphones. The Elephone P8000 is one such example and it offers plenty of bang for the buck.
The smartphone's chief claim to fame is its worldwide LTE support, a rarity with less prominent Chinese offerings. The functionality is delivered by Mediatek's MT6753 chipset, which is basically an under clocked version of the more popular MT6752, and the octa-core processor within it ticks at 1.5GHz.
Much like the Elephone P7000 which it doesn't replace, but rather complements, the P8000 is built around a 1080p 5.5-inch display. Elephone has fitted the P8000 with 3GB of RAM, though internal storage is less impressive at 16GB.
MediaTek’s processors aren’t just known for their speed at the given price, they’re also known for their low power consumption. Add that to a massive 4,165mAh battery, which is 50% larger than your average smartphone battery, and you can probably already guess just how amazing this battery life is. Standby time is nothing short of brilliant, and lasting around a week when left alone for long periods of time is probably not unheard of if you’re taking it on a trip or somewhere that it’s not going to be used often. Average use will be a full day for sure, with some users even able to carry this well through the second day without a recharge too.
It doesn't stop there and the Elephone P8000 is equipped with13MP main camera, joined by a 5MP selfie shooter takes care of capturing memories, and a touch-ID fingerprint sensor (more touch-ID: Elephone P9000, Elephone M1, Elephone S1, Elephone M3, etc) on the back is another welcome tick on the specsheet.

For $170 it’s going to be difficult to find a phone with better battery life, a higher quality build, as smooth of performance or as good of a display as is found on the Elephone P8000. This is a phenomenal phone that’s well worth the money spent on it, even with its flaky fingerprint sensor.
